Hole left by bracket holding electrical wires

bsawers | Posted in General Questions on

The power company finally came to complete their part of the heavy up. Since none of the workers had a T20 bit (or asked me), the brackets holding the old wire are still on the side of the house. I was able to reach the lowest one and I will remove the others when I can get a longer ladder.

My question is whether I should seal the holes? The siding is fiber cement.

A T20 hole in fiber cement I would fill with caulk.

+1 for caulk. I'd use something similar in color to the siding, then just inject the caulk into the hole and level out the top. Note the "inject the caulk" part. You want to put caulk INSIDE the hole, not just over the top, to help it hold reliably over time. If you just smear some caulk over the top, it's not going to be able to adhere as well.

OK, thanks for letting me know. I was hoping otherwise, but you are probably right that holes in the facade should be closed up.
