How to add stone veneer with exterior insulation

Building a 8×16 office shed. I was able to get stone veneer for cheaper than siding. I am planning on doing zip, rain screen, then 2 ” rigid foam. I am doing LP smart siding on 3 sides and the veneer on the front. What is the process of attaching that?

Is your stone veneer thin, like tile? Or is it thick, let's say 1" or more?
The process is very different. Thin stone veneer can be applied rather like a 7/8" 3 coat stucco assembly, with the stone replacing the outer 2 layers of stucco. The lath, properly attached through the insulation into the wall framing, can support the stone load.
But if you go with a thicker veneer, then you need support (and drainage) at the bottom of the stone wall.
It is a thick. Faux rock.
It looks like "thin stone veneer". The code basis is some certain weight per square foot for the finished assembly. If memory serves it's 25 psf. But I'm not 100% sure about that. Anyhow, going on that assumption I'm going to point you to a really good source that will cover every question that might come up. Eldorado Stone is one of the best manufacturers and they have loads of resources on their website.

The first document on that page CMHA Installation Guide, is the one you want. Browse through it all. But as a short cut, study the details on pages 20 and after, and check the related table 4 for fastening requirements.
I installed Eldorado stone on the front of our house that has exterior foam. Looks great and has been performing excellently.
The buildup was: studs, 3/4 plywood, housewrap, 1. 5" poly iso, 1/2 plywood (long screws), tar paper, metal lath, mortar scratch coat, stone.
prairieburner,
The stack-up on this house was:
- Plywood sheathing
- House-wrap
- Rain-screen strapping
- Hardi-backer cement board
- Lath
- Mortar and rock
Adding a layer of foam outside the WRB shouldn't change much.
Very true, just longer screws to attach the Hardi-backer, lol. Looks good!
