Thank you for your responses. I have received the information I needed to formulate my presentation. I have removed this post because I don’t want it to negatively effect anyone’s perception of products they may use or are using. Thanks again for your input.

I think you mean Faswall or Durisol.

    Hi:

I am with Durisol and I can guarantee that it is not our product. It is exactly for this reason that we only use rockwool insulation inserts. Rockwool (Roxul) is completely fire-proof as is the Durisol material. Neither material (Durisol or Roxul) will burn, melt, smolder, etc. There may be other companies that try to make a similar product or use a different type of insulation, but without the expertise of a company like ours (14 plants worldwide and over 60 years history), one can not be assured that the cement bonded fiber material is properly mineralized and bonded with cement. One can not be assured that they are getting a system that is actually fire proof. In North America, we are the only manufacturer of a 12" high block which is one way to be sure that you are getting Durisol and not an imitation product.

My 9 year old daughter is doing a series of combustion tests on various wall assembly mock ups as a science experiment. She is going to use a time lapse camera, thermometers and wax to illustrate performance of some wall systems. We're hoping our fiber cement siding over 2" mineral wool performs well... I will set up a tiger torch aimed at each of the wall systems and then eat popcorn while we watch the results. I don't know if there are Durisol blocks available on Vancouver Island, but it would be interesting to add in the assembly
