Is everyone on vacation?

kyeser | Posted in General Questions on

Seems like since the reboot of the website the amount of new content has gone way down.

Lots of “best of fine home building”= Boring=Why pay expensive website fee

    Kye,
Thanks for your feedback. Since GBA launched our redesigned website, I have published four "Musings of an Energy Nerd" blogs, and Allison Bailes has published five "Building Science" blogs.

In the same time period, GBA has published six guest blogs by distinguished authors (Robert Swinburne, Marc Rosenbaum, Mike Maines, Oliver Klein, Paul Honig, and Joe Rice). Scott Gibson has published two "Q&A Spotlight" reports, including analyses by GBA's technical editor, Peter Yost. And Scott Gibson has published an amazing total of 22 news stories (thanks, Scott!).

During that time, GBA readers have posted about 120 questions, and I have posted hundreds of answers to those questions.

In addition, GBA has added a new feature called "The Best of Fine Homebuilding." GBA has published 7 of these stories. While some readers may want to skip over these stories (or my blogs, for that matter), other readers appreciate them. We try to provide a mix of stories -- something for everyone.

Coming soon to GBA: New blogs by Carl Seville, Greg Labbé, Aaron Paul Birkland, Karl Rábago, and Robert Leaver. Tomorrow morning, my Friday blog will focus on ice dams.

And by the way, Scott Gibson and I have not been on vacation.

I am necessarily agreeing with Kye, but I can understand where he is coming from regarding premium content. Earlier this week I clicked on the "Blog" link and 8 of the 10 articles on the first page were premium content. I'm sure that will balance out in the long run. On the other hand the Q&A section alone makes this site worth visiting on a daily basis!

    Nathan,
Thanks for your feedback. You're right that recent changes have moved more of GBA's content to the GBA Prime side of the paywall.
