Logic/European window installation

sean1918 | Posted in General Questions on

Hi
I will be installing Logic triple pane European windows and I can not find a good detail picture of the install with location/taping etc.  I am wondering if its possible to install it on the outside, even/past/right before the sheathing or do they need to be set in at least a couple inches.    I would be using the tabs for install.  Thanks

Is this a new or existing home?

If you do not have a lot of experience with window installation, I would advise against innie windows.

Air sealing can incorporate different tactics- and in part will hinge on your control layers. More details are needed.

Otherwise, follow manufacturer instructions or you won’t have a warranty.

Fine Homebuilding has several articles on how to install flangeless windows. You can install them flush to the sheathing, as innies, or bucked out as outies. The installation process is different than with flanged windows but once you've done a few it's not any harder, and in some ways easier. https://www.finehomebuilding.com/project-guides/windows-doors/flangeless-windows-done-right

It's a brand new house. I guess I am looking for an actual diagram picture or better understanding how taping and trim would work. assume since no flanges, it does not sit with the frame beyond the sheathing which allows the trim to abut frame and taping of flange. But I'm confused how the window would stick out far enough so trim could abut and then since no flange how preventing water entering. If frame was even with sheathing then how does trim applied over frame?

New house- are you working with an architect or designer? Have you hired a builder? These folks will have best practices with which they’re familiar.

And Logic will have installation criteria. Have you consulted the engineering team at Logic?
