In shopping for whole house ventilation, make sure you assess how loud any system you consider is.
We’re traveling and stayed in a newly renovated condo with a while house hrv. Not sure of the brand, but it has “Enviro” printed on the unit. The unit itself is in a utility room, but even with the door closed, it is very loud.
The worst aspect is the supply vent in the bedroom is so loud that I finally shut off the breaker so we could sleep.
The lesson is that one needs to carefully investigate sound levels before specifying any mechanical contraption.
