Minisplit unit operating in dry mode

suzathome | Posted in Energy Efficiency and Durability on

I have a Mitsubishi ductless unit. Is it OK to leave doors or windows open while running on dry mode?

    Suz,
    Q. "Is it OK to leave doors or windows open while running the minisplit on dry mode?"

    A. Not really. It's your house, and you are the one (presumably) paying the electric bills, so you can do whatever you want. But if you want a minisplit to be effective -- whether the minisplit is operating in ordinary air conditioning mode, or "dry" mode, or heating mode -- you have to close your windows. Otherwise, your minisplit will be struggling to cool, or dry, or heat, the great outdoors. This is an impossible task, so the unit will struggle without result, and you will pay for the struggling.

If the weather is pleasant enough to open your windows, turn off your minisplit.

If your minisplit is on, close the windows.
