Perfect wall to perfect slab connection

saundersjordan | Posted in Green Building Techniques on

Zone 6 BC Canada –
-monolithic slab with 4” Reclaimed XPS under slab and on outside of thickened footing edge.

-perfect wall 2×6 framing, 1/2” ply, ice and water shield with 2 layers of 2.75” reclaimed Polyiso totalling 5.5”, 1×4 vertical rainscreen, wood or metal siding tbd.

Questions:
1. should I set my 2×6 sheathed wall in 1.5” from outside of slab so my wall and foundation insulation land in the same plane?

2. Can I use ice and water shield to lap down directly onto concrete?

    saundersjordan,

    1. Yes that’s what I’d do.

    2. Yes, but use a primer.

Run your assembly past your BI before going too far. Monolithic slabs move the foundation from the prescriptive paths in Part 9 of the BCBC, to Part 4 where engineering is required.

Thanks for the prompt reply Malcolm! Aware of Part 4 and will be following up on it. Thank you for that.
