Why would you stray from the Mitsu/ Fujitsu/ Daikin trio?

I think you should consider “single zone” that has one outdoor unit for each indoor head even though it will cost more to install.

Understand mini splits are most efficient when running continuously at slow speed. This is very different that the cycling we are so accustom too.

The stand-alone units can get down to about 10% of their max speed the multi head unit can only slow to 30% and the multi head unit will likely be a much larger unit.

Let say you nee 48,000 BTUs of equipment the multi head could slow to 14,000 before it is forced to cycle on and off. If you had four 12,000 unit you could turn off 3 and the last one could run 1,200 BTUs

This allows the unit to run more efficiently using less electricity and the temperature in the room will vary less than the cycling unit.

The stand-alone units also give you redundancy in that sooner or later something will fail if you have 4 stand alone systems you will still have 3 working systems so it is not an emergency as you still have heat. When the multi head system goes down it is an emergency you need it serviced today!

Make sure to get a Manual J calculation all to often contractors sell systems that are hugely oversized. When this happens, the contractor installs a head in almost ever room. You spend to much money buying unneeded equipment that leaves you uncomfortable and operates inefficiently.

Bump. I've also an HVAC company pushing Samsung heat pump for a relative. I have direct experience with Mits and Bosch. Didn't even know Samsung was into heat pumps till today. Samsung reputation for appliances is not great (tough to get timely service). Does anyone have experience with Samsung mini-splits they can share? Cheers
