Sealed crawlspace and air infiltration

Seando | Posted in General Questions on

Hi,

I live in North Carolina. Our crawlspace is sealed with plastic on the floor and spray foam on the walls. My understanding is they have to leave a gap at the top so they can still do termite inspections. The problem is that I’m getting all this air infiltration into the walls of my house because the foundation/sill plate/rim joist interface is not sealed. Could I use something like Siga Fentrim self-adhesive tape to seal this area or will that create problems in terms of termite inspections?

I'd ask your local building code inspector, but I imagine something like a high quality caulking would be a better option because it won't block viewing the wood. Perhaps even clear version like BigStretch clear

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll do that.
