Setting HVAC/ERV for Vacation

Bruce_Davis | Posted in General Questions on

I have two HVAC systems with one ERV sharing ducts with both. I run fans in both furnaces and the ERV 24/7.

When I go away for say a two-week vacation, I turn the ERV off and set the furnace fans to run in Auto (as needed when AC or heat is on).

Is this correct or does turning the ERV off add some resistance to the air flow from the furnaces? After the blower door test, it was recommended to run the ERV 23 hours a day, so I just leave it on 24 hours when we’re home.

Current conditions in the Midwest are 90s & humid. I usually set AC at 80 when we’re gone for a week or more. Thanks.

Is it advisable to turn off the ERV and set the furnace fans to 'Auto' during a two-week vacation, or could this create resistance to airflow from the furnaces? Additionally, what is the best HVAC/ERV setting for maintaining indoor conditions while away, considering high temperatures and humidity?
