SIP question

I am using SIPS on a new build. The exterior portion of the panel will be zip panel. I was very comfortable with this plan until I started reading about moisture issues in SIP panels. I am wondering if a well taped zip on the outside of the panel is sufficient. I have considered a rain screen adding furring strips on the zip board and attaching siding to the the furring strips. Would this solve the issue?

Will,
Allison Bailes wrote a comprehensive blog on the topic I'd suggest reading. If you decide to seal the interior face you will have to work out how to do that when the joint between panels falls over, or is interrupted by, a beam or other support.

It is becoming a best practice to create a rainscreen on the exterior side for a variety of reasons. Allowing bulk water a route to escape is the main one — this will increase the life if your siding, and prevent damage more generally. You don't need much space, even 1/8" is enough for drying to occur (not enough to start moving air as part of a building cooling strategy, but that's another topic.)
It also depends on your climate zone — if you are in an air conditioned-dominated area, you can dry to the inside, and there shouldn't be a build-up of moisture within your walls. Keep the weather out, and you should be on your way.
