Strapping over 2 inch insulation

Paulmcgee | Posted in General Questions on

I have installed 2″ GPS insulation and secured in place with 1×4 (mostly on 16″ centers) and 5″ #10 screws into the studs. The siding will be 26g metal.

Have I done enough? Will this sag?

Any thoughts appreciated as it’s better to adjust now!

Those screws are likely fine if they are sufficiently snug. You don’t want any air gaps between parts of the assembly where the screw can bend.

The building science Corp people have recommended putting some screws in at an angle too to help with particularly heavy siding (like fiber cement). In your case I think you’re probably fine if you’re using enough screws.
