Switch to heat pump???

chrislene | Posted in General Questions on

Maryland – should we switch to all heat pump (ducted 1st floor, ductless basement) and mini split in basement from old inefficient gas furnace. 1000 sq foot house with 1000 basement. Looks like the price of gas in MD is about to skyrocket. Not that electricity is much better. Thanks

What is your price of electricity and what is your price of gas? They vary enormously from state to state. That will be the determining factor.

That said, it almost never makes financial sense to replace working equipment just for energy savings.

Prices are constantly changing. To do the math today probably won’t make sense by next year. The current furnace is vented thru the roof.. not ideal. I think it takes in air from the basement. Not ideal. Also prefer not to have combustion. 🤷🏻‍♀️
