T5 tube lamps

charles3 | Posted in Green Products and Materials on

I’m having a heck of a time trying to find a replacement 16 inch T5 lamp for a fluorescent undercabinet fixture.  Seems like they have been discontinued. Anybody know a source? Is it possible to replace with an LED lamp?

Amazon has them in several color temperatures from Phillips:
    https://www.amazon.com/Philips-10-Watt-White-Linear-Fluorescent/dp/B00FGRZ82C/ref=sr_1_1?crid=24PST7ZW20MHB&keywords=16+t5+bulb&psr=EY17&qid=1575687177&s=cyber-monday&sprefix=16”+t5%2Ccyber-monday%2C169&sr=1-1-catcorr

You can probably get them at electrical supply houses too, but you might have to buy a full case.

I’m not aware of any LED replacements for these smaller fluorescent tubes. GE makes some nice LED undercounter lights that I’ve used and like that may be a suitable replacement for your fixture though. Home Depot usually stocks them.

Bill, thanks for your reply, but the page you linked to says "Currently unavailable. We don't know when or if this item will be back in stock. "

I’m pretty sure it showed some available when I posted the link. Maybe someone bought the last one :-)

The related items show some other options that ARE available. It’s an F10T5 lamp, so that’s what you’re looking for. The numbers after the - on the end give the phosphor type. If you call around to some electrical supply houses in your area you’re sure to find the right bulb, or at least someone who can order it if you don’t want to order from amazon.

Note that fluorescent lamps are generally sold by wattage and not length, with a few trade-jargon slang terms thrown in (a “T8” for example usually means a 48” 32w T8 tube even though “T8” really only means it’s a 1” diameter tube).
