Vapour Barrier in Humid Climate for CLT

Matt_VT76 | Posted in General Questions on

We’re building a CLT home in Australia in a zone 2 climate.

I’ve seen a number of different configurations for the placement of a vapour barrier in CLT construction, but mostly for cooler climates.

In humid climates, WUFI analysis has suggested placing the insulation to the inside and having a vapour barrier on the outside of the CLT, which seems to defeat the purpose of CLT to an extent.

My initial thought is to protect the CLT during construction with a house wrap, insulate externally, and wrap a vapour barrier outside the vapour open exterior insulation. Or is that overkill?
