Vapromax slope shield plus under shakes

Graceconstruction | Posted in General Questions on

I am preparing to install 50 sq of heavy hand split red cedar shakes. I ran across a product called SlopeShield plus by vapromax. If I’m understanding their details correctly, it would allow for covering the entire roof deck, installing a cedar breather product they have called vapromat and installing the shakes without interwoven 18” strips of 30lb felt. Would you trust an installation like this? It seems to good to be true.
Thanx

    Hey Andrew,

I haven't heard from anyone who has used the Vapro Shield underlayment yet, but I know that plenty of roofers are confident installing cedar shingles over Cedar Breather and roofing felt or other synthetic underlayment. Seems like the big difference here is that this is a fully-adhered underlayment, which seems to be where things are headed in the industry at the moment (on roofs and walls). Hopefully someone with some experience with this product will respond.
