Will stucco adhere to peel & stick membranes?

jackofalltrades777 | Posted in GBA Pro Help on

Trying to do a window detail that involves some peel & stick membrane but the question I have is whether or not EIFS/synthetic stucco will adhere to peel & stick or does one have to install EPS over the peel & stick and then stucco?

    Peter,
I'm not sure of the answer to your question. However, I do know that you can't just improvise the details for an EIFS installation. Ever since EIFS was implicated in several clusters of wet-wall disasters (notably in North Carolina), insurance companies have been very specific about their requirements for EIFS installations.

Only certified EIFS installers should be allowed to install EIFS. Every single detail of the installation has to be approved by the EIFS manufacturer and installed by a certified installer. You can't deviate from these recommendations, or you won't have a warranty.
