Any info on Trusscore “Wall&CeilingBoard”?

otinkyad | Posted in General Questions on

This is my first post here, and I know very little about building science, so please forgive any idiotic aspects of my question.

QUESTION: Does anyone have any experience or thoughts about Trusscore’s “Wall&CeilingBoard”.?  https://trusscore.com/products/wall-and-ceilingboard.html.  It appears to be a PVC-based replacement for drywall, which immediately brings offgassing/outgassing to my mind.

It’s been suggested by our builder, but I’m having trouble finding any information about it here or elsewhere, except on Trusscore’s own website.

Thanks in advance for any information.

UPDATE: I found this about its offgassing: https://trusscore.com/benefits/indoor-environmental-quality.html

Still very interested in anyone’s thoughts/experiences.

[By way of background, in case relevant/useful: I’m a homeowner who discovered high levels of mold in our home of 19 years.  All of our family had had chronic debilitating illnesses for 2-16 years, which are now explainable as mold health issues.  (After the house mold findings, two of us had blood tests done that revealed high antibodies to mold toxins, confirming that our health issues were in fact mold related).  So we have evacuated the house, have thrown away all our belongings, are living in an apartment, and — which is where BS and GBA comes in — are looking to have a custom home built, where we hope to ensure as much mold-resilience as possible.  We also need to minimize offgassing/outgassing, as my wife’s health issues have resulted in chemical sensitivities.

We have a builder who is very open to and interested in mold-resilient and low-VOC building practices, and who we trust (for a variety of reasons), but who does not have a lot of experience with such practices.

So I’ve been trying to educate myself about building (from zero, or perhaps from a negative number, as I apparently knew much less about building maintenance than most other people), and particularly about building with moisture control and no/low-VOC in mind.  Resources I have been using are: 1. consulting with Cheryl Ciecko, an architect who now specializes in providing information about mold-resilient building (having had her own moldy-home-health experience).  2. This forum, which I’ve been loitering on for a while, and have just signed up for.  3. Various books that I was led to by this forum: Pretty Good Home; Musings of an Energy Nerd; A House Needs to Breathe; Lstiburek’s Moisture Control for Residential Buildings; Lstiburek’s Builder’s Guide to Cold Climates.  For me it’s a daunting amount of completely new information, but I’m trying my best to wrap my head around some of it.

So all of that is the background that brought me to my (for now) single question.]
