Cost of exterior rigid foam insulation and siding

_matt_p | Posted in General Questions on

Hi, I have a brick house and I am considering exterior rigid foam insulation. In a high cost area such as Washington DC, wht might be the total cost per sqf of R25 insulation and siding? Home Depot sells R13 Thermax for about a dollar per sqf, so two layers of that brings the cost to 2 dollars per sqf. I have no idea what the most economical durable siding material is and how much it might cost? Then how much should I budget for furring and other details? My guess is installed cost in DC will easily run 10 dollars per sqf if materials run 4 to 5 bucks? Does anyone have recent experience and can share information on price? Thank you !

    Matthias,
The only people who can answer your questions are local contractors. All prices are local.

The least expensive type of siding for your building will probably be EIFS (artificial stucco over rigid foam). I suggest that you call up two or three EIFS contractors and get some estimates.
