Experiences with Thermally Treated Wood Decking – Thermory??

artisanfarms | Posted in Green Building Techniques on

In conversation with a friend who is a professional woodworker in Switzerland, he mentioned that he has used Thermally Treated Ash (Thermory) for Decks and was very pleased with the results.

I am planning a medium sized deck for my Pretty Good House renovation and am curious about experiences in the US, especially in the snowbelt.  I like the idea of not using a pressure treated product or a plastic material if I can get a reasonable life expectancy from this material.

I got a sample sent to me a few years ago. I still haven't started the build that I was testing it out for, but I did leave the sample outside on the ground for a number of months was impressed with how it held up.
