    There is no rhyme or reason to this. Sometimes manufacturers use lot of the same components between units 1/4 ton apart so you run into cases where the smaller unit has almost the capacity.

    Min modulation doesn't give the full picture though for these units. If you look at the 24k with 3200BTU min cooling and 406 min CFM, so 1500CFM/ton.

    The 18k is 5100BTU at 288CFM so 640CFM/ton.

    This means on low output, the 24k will do almost no dehumidification, the SHR on the 18k is not great but still WAY better.
