    Gas or electric?
    How hard is your water?
How often will you delime the unit?
What is the highest repair bill you would be willing to pay before you replaced it?

    Walta

In my experience most Rheem heaters die within 6 months either side of the end of the warrantee, and warrantee service will take longer than 6 months.... so, it probably says so right on the side of the heater. Given the choice, I use one of the other 2 brands.

Can't speak for Rheem but I've had an EcoSmart 27kw electric tankless water heater since 2016 with almost no issues. Within one month I had to replace the fuse because they ship with crappy ones. I could only find a 20 pack but it was like $10 and I never killed another fuse since. The only other issue is the sensor got clogged due to a cracked well pipe that let a ton of sand into the house. Both of those things were fixed in under ten minutes by myself. Other than that I've literally never done any maintenance or other replacements

Our house has a tankless Rinnai that's been going strong for 11 years. I flush it once a year; no other maintenance.

Do you have room for a tank?
