How to airseal with no Sill Plate ICF

dsh1109 | Posted in General Questions on

Hello,

I am building a house with 6in buildblock ICF’s. I have decided to go with Burmon Hurricane anchors which negate the typically required sill plate. However I am confused as to how to properly air seal now that there will not be a sill plate. Any suggestion would be helpful

Here is the link to hurricane anchors if you want to check them out.

Just a bump. Would love to have this question answered before I start building :)

Not sure where you are, but here (zone 7a) we would use 6mil poly as the air/vapour barrier on the ceiling as per standard construction, and then acoustic seal it to the ICF walls. You could call the tech support line for the ICF manufacturer and they might have a detail for you.

Thanks for the tip, I hadn't thought of that before. I am in zone 4 near Louisville, KY and I feel like I've seen no vapor barrier on the ceiling, but I will double check. I called the Burmon and they said they hadn't been asked that question before and said they would be grateful if I reported what I heard on here to them. I might check with buildblock too.
