There are many articles written about a strong fish smell that is known as off-gassing. Spray foam insulation is a two part mixture that if not mixed at the right levels or temperature, will release an odor that lingers for quite a while. Some of it back in the days contained formaldehyde although spray foam dealers have turned to other chemicals containing soy products to minimize the smell.
