IBS 2024: Discussing the Fortified Building System with the Insurance Institute for Business and Home Safety

rockies63 | Posted in General Questions on

There seems to be more and more homes destroyed each year, and one of the most common reasons are “high wind events” like tornados and hurricanes. Even if the entire house isn’t torn from its foundation there is a great likelihood that the roof will be severely damaged, and once it is the rain pours in and further destroys the house and contents.

Will King from the Build Show discusses how the Fortified Building System can help prevent major structural damage and the following water damage. Also, apparently you can get tax credits if you build to the Fortified standard and get a certificate from them.

That’s pretty cool, especially incentives part. It would be cool if they did one for wui zones.

I haven’t checked out the website yet but I bet it’s good design resource.
