Insulate pre existing aluminum clad Sunroom

kbrasp | Posted in General Questions on

Hi, we are planning on insulating our sunroom, it has aluminum clad walls. We are replacing the paper thin windows with double pane and I wasn’t sure whether to use rigid foam board or frame everything with 2×4 walls and use fiberglass batt, either way my concern is having insulation right up against the aluminum. My thought was unfaced batt up against aluminum then vapor barrier and cover with paneling not drywall. Thanks for the advice

Unless you can air seal the walls and ceiling, you won't feel any warmth from placing insulation near the present walls. Double pane windows won't help much either if you can't keep the frames warm. A sunroom is a sunroom.
