Make Up Air Damper With Filter

Jeremiah_Sommer | Posted in Mechanicals on

I recently installed a 6” Broan MUA https://www.broan-nutone.com/en-ca/accessory/md6t motorized damper which is synced up to a kitchen exhaust. The system was simple to install and works as advertised. My question is, has anyone installed a filter box with one of these dampers?

The unit I installed simply dumps fresh air into the mechanical room below the kitchen however, I feel it would be ideal to have a filter box with a basic MERV 8 on the interior side of the damper to help prevent dust & pollen etc from coming in. My only question is, since we are simply relying on depressurization from the range hood to pull air into the home would a filter interfere with the air flow too much?
