Someone please tell me this is rockwool!

Broke up my plaster ceiling to run new electrical for overhead light and found this..two different looking loose insulations. The brownish one charred but the white fluffy stuff did not

    Doesn't look like vermiculite is that's what you're worried about.

    The one that didn't char could be mineral wool, the other could be cellulose. Really hard to tell from a picture. If you are worried about asbestos, you should be more concerned about the plaster itself, which often contained asbestos.

    Most loose fill rock wool is an off-white in color. Many fiberglass blowing wools are too.
