Vented or unvented roof assembly?

Waldo_H | Posted in General Questions on

Hey everyone,

I’m in Oakville, Ontario (Climate zone 5-6) and am wondering what the best solution for insulating this new build that’s easy for the builder without resorting to spray foam.

Should I bother with a vented assembly? I’ve got 2 skylights and I’m not sure whether the rooflines here would be considered “too complicated” to go with a vented assembly. We have cathedral ceilings so we’re going with scissor trusses with a 6:12 pitch on the inside. Would appreciate cost effective insulation suggestions, initial thoughts were cellulose but I’ve read that it can settle.
