The energy performance of doors leading to unconditioned spaces is less crucial than for entry doors leading to conditioned spaces; material choices are a higher priority environmental consideration in that situation. For doors leading to conditioned spaces, insulation and airtight seal is most important; for high-usage doors, the speed at which doors open and close is an important consideration, particularly in cold climates.
