What makes this product green?

  • Pre-consumer recycled content
  • Reduces material use

iCrete is not a material, but an approach to formulating concrete mixes, based on a "proprietary algorithm" and a close study of the aggregates available to its authorized ready-mix and pre-cast plants. This method seeks to optimize particle packing, reducing cement use without sacrificing strength or workability. The company claims cement content can be reduced by up to 40%. Fly ashFine particulates consisting primarily of silica, alumina, and iron that are collected from flue gases during coal combustion. Flyash is employed as a substitute for some of the portland cement used in the making of concrete, producing a denser, stronger, and slower-setting material while eliminating a portion of the energy-intensive cement required. More info is routinely used in iCrete; otherwise, it typically contains only cement, aggregates, and water. Quality control is central to the iCrete process, with concrete batches monitored in real time at a central facility.
