Asbestos carpet adhesive on plywood subfloor

marleyandbowie | Posted in General Questions on

Hi all. Any recommendations on how to deal with asbestos carpet adhesive residue stuck to a plywood subfloor after the carpet was removed? Is there a way to clean it off or should the subfloor be replaced? The plywood is in good shape so I’d hate to have to replace it. Trying to avoid a professional remediation costing thousands.

Was the asbestos identified with a laboratory test or did someone say look and guess?

Seems to me you have two choices.

1 Pay to have the asbestos removed and move on.

2 Encapsulate the asbestos and disclose its presents when you sell the house and deal with a lower sales price.
