Common Residential Design Mistakes That Were Actually Built

rockies63 | Posted in General Questions on

Here is an excellent Youtube channel from a man named Barton Jahn who shows us residential design and construction mistakes using handmade drawings. The drawings all show details that were actually built in the real world and he discusses how these mistakes occurred and how they could be fixed through a process he calls “debugging” which means having the architect, builder and sub-trades involved from the very beginning of the design so that “crashes and collisions” between different features of the building can be discovered and corrected before construction begins.

His first set of 12 videos are called “Housing Construction Debugging and Quality”.

His next series is called “Lessons Learned for Builders, Architects and Interior Designers”.

There are also lots of other videos aimed towards students and homeowners on his channel and they all show excellent examples of real world construction and design mistakes.

If you know him, suggest that he organize his videos into playlists, and name them consistently so someone interested could actually navigate through his voluminous collection of videos.
