Does anyone know or recommend a good awning supplier online? Looking for something along the commercial/industrial line that would have a steel or aluminum awning to cover a patio door with the cantilevered panel, anchored in with the steel rods/cables into the wall.

The commercial ones I see listed online aren't that attractive to me. But I bet you could work with a local metal fabricator to create some that is visually more appealing. All that said, if you want to talk with someone who has practical experience in this area, I suggest calling Chris Laumer-Giddens at LG Squared Inc. (lgsquaredinc.com). His firm has designed several homes with this type of feature.

Most of the awnings that I have seen on homes as you are describing are custom fabricated (and look like fun projects). Matt Risinger does a lot of stelel awnings. Not sure if he has any content on them on Youtube, Instagram, or the Build Show Network, but if not, you could reach out to him. Perhaps he'd share some plans if you were up for fabricating your own, or having them fabricated locally.
