Passive House with brick elevation

Hi,

Planning for PH with Brick elevation, how does the “in between” windows work with Brick or should i plan for “outies” ? i am not able to visualize on closing the gap between brick exterior and window without breaching thermal and hydro barrier.  Can you help me understand?

    Have you read this blog by Martin Holladay? https://www.greenbuildingadvisor.com/article/innie-windows-or-outie-windows.

    I ask this because there is substantial debate on which one folks prefer AND some comments that address brick veneer installations. Take a look and then come back to Q&A?
