Reinsulate Round Rigid Ductwork in Attic

kramttocs | Posted in General Questions on

Going to be reinsulating my attic and want to redo the duct insulation at the same time. Cape cod so there isn’t much room up there but that’s where my air handler and upstairs ductwork is. Can’t feasibly move it so making the best of what I have. Very little square trunk and mainly an octopus setup of 6″ rigid with the old grey brittle plastic covering fiberglass.
What would be the best product to replace that insulation with? I will mastic all the joints.
I see sleeve products but that won’t work for me so picturing something that I could lay underneath it lengthwise, wrap it around and tape the long seam.
Seeing some fiberglass options, bubble wrap stuff, etc.
I do plan to cover it with r30 batts as much as possible.
