Sealing Up Enclosed Gazebo

jungalwala | Posted in General Questions on

Hi There,

I have an enclosed gazebo that has decking boards for a floor (currently with just carpet sitting directly on the decking boards.  I am looking to make it more weather proof and consistent temperature wise.

There are obviously gaps between the decking boards and I was thinking of putting down a vapor barrier, some rigid insulation, plywood and then some 9mm thick stone composite tiles.

Do you have any recommendations for vapor barriers, rigid insulation and type of plywoood?

Note, the gazebo is 7 ft off the ground, but currently get lots of insects coming in because the gaps in the decking and we live in the woods.

Any advice would be very much appreciated.

    Jay,

Rather than a vapour-barrier under the foam, I would use a layer of something to protect it - probably easiest is some 3/8" plywood. EPS foam will work, as will CDX plywood sub-floor.
