Steel Entry Door & Thermal Bridging

jackofalltrades777 | Posted in General Questions on

They sell steel entry doors with insulated cores but wouldn’t the steel outer shell create thermal bridging issues in summer/winter? Wouldn’t an insulated fiberglass door be a better choice?

    jackofalltrades777,

I've never seen a steel entry door that didn't have a wood core around the perimeter, so the two highly conductive metal sides never touch. It also provides something solid to support the hardware.
