TimberHP in basement

mr_stop | Posted in General Questions on

I was going to use mineral wool insulation in a current basement remodel project.  My insulation sub said he has been having trouble sourcing mineral wool insulation and brought up TimberHP as an alternative.  My concern is how this product would behave in a bulk water event.  Any thoughts on using this product in below grade applications?

Will you also have a layer of foam insulation to control condensation? If not, I wouldn't use TimberHP or any fibrous insulation. If you do have a foam layer, TimberHP should work well but I wouldn't expect it to remain usable after a flood.

Thanks for the feedback! It does have a layer of foam, along with a drainage membrane for the retrofitted interior drain. I'm going to stick on mineral wool on this project and explore TimberHP for future projects.
