What would the best bang for buck for infrared cameras?

Would the FLIR i5 or i7 be sufficient for home energy audits, compared to the b40 or b50? There are obvious resolution and range of field differences but a considerable cost savings. Are there comprimises with functionality and field performance in residential audits? How useful are the picture in picture and digital camera features?
