“Pretty Good” Windows for a Warm Climate

azgreg | Posted in General Questions on

Window recommendation for climate zone 2

We live in Phoenix in a modest 3 bedroom 2 bath 1500 sf house. My wife would like to replace the windows that are original to the build approx 45-50 years ago. We have 1 bedroom window, 1 dining room window, and 1 small kitchen window facing south without the benefit of  porch covering. Facing north are 2 bedroom windows and a sliding glass door. All of the north facing glass is protected by a porch roof. What am I looking for if I choose to follow more in the line of the PGH philosophy?

Here is an article I wrote awhile back that I think it may help... https://www.greenbuildingadvisor.com/article/windows-for-hot-climates

Consider fixed windows for the dining and kitchen windows, they will be cheaper and more efficient as well.
