I am going to put foundation drains around a detached garage. Where can I legally dump the water?

Is it legal to dump the water collected from the foundation drain into the gutters in the city streets?

Each municipality has its own regulations. Typically storm water has to be piped directly either to the municipal storm drains, or if they doesn't exist to rock pits or ditches. I can imagine situations where it might be legal to drain to gutters in the street, but the only way to find out is to contact your municipality.
